When considering buying a wig from Allusions, the most prominent concern is finding one that will fit your head and flatter the shape of your face. Images of costume wigs with unrealistic textures and far too much shine come to mind when many people think about wearing a wig. It’s time we, here at Cincinnati Hair Loss, educate against that stereotype and present an easy-to-follow guide to finding a wig that’s perfect for you.
“Fit” does not merely mean the measurements, but also the color in contrast with your skin tone, the style, and of course, how well it will fit into your lifestyle.
There are many different types of wigs to choose from. You must consider which would best fit your needs and allow you to live easy with hair that makes you feel confident. If you need something for everyday use, you might consider investing a bit more money into a more expensive but higher quality lace wig; these look exceptionally realistic compared to the lower priced end.
If you are looking for a wig for going out only, match it with the clothes you often wear out to special occasions and look for something easy to take care of and storable. Also consider: how often will you wear it? What style would complement you and your face? Worry not, this guide will help you find your best fit.
Head Measurements
Before we get into the more aesthetic considerations, measure the circumference of your head to ensure you select a comfortable size that will stay on all day. Depending on where you make your purchase, most wigs will have sizing charts with multiple measurements such as ear to ear, temple to temple, and front to nape to find the closest possible match for you.
Use a cloth tape measure to determine these measurements. For circumference, wrap the tape measure around your head from the nape of your neck to the top of your forehead. Then find the length between your ears (where glasses would rest) while keeping the tape measure on the top of your head. To measure from temple to temple, do so while wrapping the tape around the back of your head. Front to nape is the length between the nape of your neck and across the top of your head to the top of your forehead once more.
Hairstyle
Just like all haircuts and styles, there is undoubtedly much importance behind the way your wig’s style frames your face. There are just as many wig styles to choose from as there are natural hairstyles. Quality wigs are often just as easy to work with also! If it’s a human hair wig, you can even dye it a new color. Styling a human hair wig is favored because you can use hair product, heated styling tools, and treat it with chemicals just like your own hair!
